Isaac Newland
Isaac Newland is a proud Washington native, a dedicated father, and an advocate for responsible growth and community-driven leadership. Born in Richland and now raising his family in Blaine, Isaac is running for City Council to help guide Blaine’s future with thoughtful planning and a strong sense of local pride.
With a background in psychology and computer information systems, and a career spanning customer service, education, and technology, Isaac brings a wide range of real-world experience to the table. He’s worked as a support manager, co-founded a small educational toy company with his dad, and currently manages supply chain systems that support businesses across the country.
Isaac understands what makes Blaine special: its close-knit neighborhoods, access to nature, and deep community roots. His children attend Blaine public schools, and his parents are part of Blaine’s senior community—he knows firsthand how policy affects real people at every stage of life.
Isaac believes Blaine can grow without losing what makes it feel like home. He’s not a career politician—he’s a neighbor who wants to listen, lead with integrity, and make sure Blaine works for everyone.

My Priorities
1. Supporting Local Blaine Businesses
While we greatly appreciate our Canadian neighbors, our economy leans too heavily on Canadian shoppers and border tourism for core services such as our police force, fire departments, and parks. While that revenue helps, it’s not sustainable as our only source of growth. As your council member, I’ll prioritize diversifying our economic base by supporting small businesses, exploring light industry opportunities, and working to attract employers who bring year-round, local jobs.
2. Lack of Affordable Housing
Too many people who work in Blaine—or grew up here—can’t afford to live here. We need housing solutions that work for families, seniors, and working professionals. I’ll support policies that encourage smart development, promote mixed-income housing options, and remove red tape that stalls progress for years.
3. Support for Local Schools and Youth
My kids attend Blaine schools. I know how much our students, teachers, and families rely on local government support. I’ll be a strong advocate for youth programming and ensuring our housing policies support families with school-aged kids. I will also seek out partnerships with state government that strengthens our schools and community as a whole.
4. Senior Support and Community Services
My parents are seniors in this community, and I understand how hard it can be to age in place here. I’ll work to make sure city services are accessible and that our policies prioritize housing, transportation, and social connections for seniors.
5. Public Safety and Community Trust
With growth comes the need to ensure our public safety systems stay effective and community-focused. I’ll advocate for smart, transparent use of existing resources, support emergency preparedness efforts, and ensure residents feel informed, respected, and safe.
6. Responsible Growth That Reflects Blaine’s Character
I want Blaine to grow—but I want it to grow right. That means development that respects our natural environment, maintains the charm of our waterfront and downtown, and considers the voices of longtime residents and newcomers alike.
